Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne and Will Smith in the first official trailer
Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer, is due out in August next year.
According to Deadline, the company was frustrated that someone in the San Diego Comic-Con crowd leaked the video after it was presented during the studio’s Hall H presentation. Rather than have a low-quality version continue to circulate online, WB opted to go with officially releasing the trailer in hi-res. Pictures President Worldwide Marketing and global Distribution, said in a statement. Kroll added that the company regretted the decision since it meant to give the participants of the Comic Con a unique experience with the footage.
Suicide Squad also stars Scott Eastwood, Ike Barinholtz, Parrack, Adam Beach and Common. The high point of the trailer is indisputably Jared Leto’s Joker, with his spine chillingly threatening voice.
The trailer also confirmed that Batman will be in the movie, as he’s seen clinging on to the top of an auto while the joker and Harley Quinn speed through Gotham.
For the uninitiated, the premise behind Suicide Squad is that captured villains are forced to work for the government as a team to help combat greater evils.
The cast of the much-awaited film, which includes Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne and Viola Davis, had made a surprise appearance at ongoing Comic-Con.
Further reports of the Harley Quinn’s relationship showed that it will not be between her and the Joker, but with Deadshot, played by Will Smith.
Suicide Squad will follow the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in setting up further DC films.
