Jaguars receiver Hurns plans to play, hopes to extend streak
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns is “very confident” he will play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, according to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.
BAD MEMORIES: Ravens left tackle Eugene Monroe and running back Justin Forsett spent part of their careers in Jacksonville.
Both Hurns and Lee are listed as questionable for Sunday.
But for the Ravens, their usual one-game-at-a-time view has to be augmented with a glance toward the remainder of their schedule, once that features five home games and just two contests against clubs that now have winning records (Cincinnati, Pittsburgh). “I’m going to go back and look at the tape and see how he held up, standing and punching and all that kind of stuff”.
We might not see Lee Evans and Billy Cundiff fall short late in the game against the Patriots and with the home crowd on the Ravens side, the Ravens might have reached the Super Bowl a year earlier.
If Zuttah is out, the Ravens will turn to John Urschel to get the start at center. It’s the first time he’s been able to do that in weeks.
Wide receivers Kamar Allen, Marlon Brown, Chris Givens and perhaps Joe Morgan (signed as a free agent on November 4) will have to step up.
Defensive end Brent Urban wrapped up his first full week of practice after returning from a torn biceps muscle in training camp.
But Harbaugh did say the second-year defender has impressed the coaching staff during the week of practice.
“We have been historically”, Harbaugh said. “He’s coming along really well”.
While the Ravens pass defense is 29th in the National Football League, their run defense is much stronger, allowing an average of 99.8 rushing yards per game, which is 10th in the NFL.
“I think he is doing a lot of really good things, a lot of good things”, Bradley said. “We actually put the young guys in pads for some reps after practice and we took a padded day even though we didn’t put the team in pads, to get him and Carl [Davis] and some of the young linemen some work”.
The Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars go way back.
GOING DEEP: Jaguars wide receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns have combined for 12 touchdowns, most by a pair of teammates in the NFL. Hurns didn’t practice until Friday, when he was a limited participant.
Wide receiver Marqise Lee is also questionable after missing the last five games with a hamstring injury. With that in mind, fantasy owners will likely have to wait on Hurns’ status, but Sunday’s matchup against the Ravens presents a favorable opportunity for him to continue his six-game touchdown streak if cleared to play. Without Perriman, Baltimore has produced three pass plays of 40 yards or more. Safety James Sample (shoulder) suffered a setback and was ruled out.
