Four more women join Bill Cosby defamation suit
Though the stipulation does not name the new plaintiffs, the NY Times identifies them as Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis, Louisa Moritz and Angela Leslie.
This provision would also stop the deposition from questioning Cosby about the numerous other women who’ve accused him of sexual assault and abuse. Dickinson’s lawsuit is over her claims that Cosby drugged and assaulted her in 1982 and made a joke about the allegations in January, which caused her emotional distress.
The comedian allegedly told her he was impressed by her work and “implied that he was going to see to it that I will become a major star through his direction”. On Tuesday, Kristina Ruehli sued Cosby for defamation, after he called her a liar for saying he raped her in 1965.
Meanwhile Linda Traitz was also 19 when she says drove her out to a beach and tried to get her to take pills to relax, before becoming ‘sexually aggressive’.
She said Cosby agreed to mentor her and eventually moved her to NY.
Moritz, of California, is an actress who alleges Cosby sexually assaulted her in a dressing room for “The Tonight Show” in 1969.
Marshall Searcy III, who is listed as Cosby’s attorney in the suit by the seven women, declined to comment. Another Cosby attorney, Monique Pressley, did not respond to a request for comment.
Meanwhile, a California appellate court on Thursday put on hold a lower court’s ordered deposition in Dickinson’s separate defamation lawsuit against the comedian and his former attorney Marty Singer. After that date, Cosby’s team shut down when they saw denial statements opened them up to defamation lawsuits, Cammarata said. There have never been criminal charges against the comedian.
