Leia no longer a princess in next ‘Star Wars’
We probably won’t see Luke until the climax of the film, and I bet fans will be hyped to see him when he finally shows up. The production team called her character “Rose” on the set in order to avoid spoiling the character, who’s one of the first major aliens that we’ve found out about in the new movie.
Maz Kanata, the character voiced by the Academy Award-winning actress, has been there all along.
Maz’s eyes aren’t just covered up with goggles as a fashion statement – they seem to play a big part of her character. “As an actor for films, your eyes are a lot of the way you communicate anyway”.
“She’s alluded to as general, however there’s a minute in the motion picture where a character kind of slips and calls her “Princess”.
“[She’s] committed as ever to her cause, but I would imagine feeling somewhat defeated, tired, and pissed”, Fisher said.
Here’s the Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster.
The “Star Trek” reboot helmer also gave high praise to Fisher, who returns to her iconic role after 32 years. “In the movie, you don’t learn these things, but I know that these are things that are coming out in other venues”.
We got a quick glimpse of Maz’s home base in the recent trailers, though we’re not entirely sure what brings Han, Finn and Rey to her humble abode.
General Leia Organa either was promoted or demoted depending on how you look at it. In Star Wars 7, Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia goes by a completely different name, and the reason behind the change may indicate a few Star Wars spoilers.
Director JJ Abrams recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Princess Leia will no longer be referred to by that name in the upcoming film.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be available in theaters this December 18.
Most of the minute-long trailer proved to be previously-seen footage – though eagle-eyed geeks were rewarded with a glimpse of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) firing his blaster and Finn (John Boyega) in a lightsaber fight with a Stormtrooper.
