Paris attacks would have been ‘different’ if civilians were armed
Donald Trump, speaking at a rally on Saturday in Beaumont, Texas, suggested that fewer people would have been killed had more civilians been armed.
“When you look at Paris, you know, the toughest gun laws in the world, nobody had guns except for the bad guys, nobody”, Trump told the Texas crowd.
Trump also criticized President Barack Obama’s handling of the Islamic State group, saying that the USA should be more aggressive in its approach. “Nobody had guns. And they were just shooting them one by one, and then they broke in and had a big shootout and ultimately killed the terrorists”.
But it did little to calm the storm of controversy, leaving one poster “Wondering which of Trump’s celebrated staffers advised him to send incredibly insensitive #ParisShooting gun control tweet?”
“The toughest gun laws in the world, Paris”, Trump said.
That tweet got new life last night when people thought it was Trump’s comment on last night’s attack.
“Our president wants to take in 250,000 from Syria”.
The Republican presidential candidate went on to say how the attacks were carried out with the terrorists shooting victims one by one. “Because it sounds like that vacuous observation was about giving your NRA-loving constituency a hand job and spinning a tragedy for political gain and I’m thinking maybe using a situation where dozens of innocents have just been murdered in the streets isn’t the best time. No?”
