Trevone Boykin leaves game, does not return with ankle injury
Bad news for TCU, which is hosting Kansas on Saturday. He has an injured ankle.
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin limped to the locker room at the beginning of the second quarter of his team’s game against Kansas on Saturday.
Per Travis L. Brown of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, TCU head coach Gary Patterson said during a radio hit going into halftime that Boykin is “probably” out for the rest of the game against Kansas. Taking over for Boykin in the first quarter, senior Bram Kohlhausen completed 5-of-9 passes for 51 yards.
If Boykin can not return, it would be a huge blow for the No. 15 Horned Frogs. He tried to run off the field with his teammates at halftime but slowed and walked gingerly behind the pack of players.
The injury occurred in the first half.
The Jayhawks responded with 10 unanswered points, executing a 42-yard field goal late in the first quarter and then scoring a 3-yard rushing touchdown by running back Taylor Cox with 11:29 to go in the 2nd quarter.
TCU was firmly the playoff mix until last week when they fell to fellow undefeated Oklahoma State, but they still had an outside chance of sneaking in should they win out and get lots of help.
