One Direction deny they’re making ANY solo albums during two year split
“We’re in a very lucky position where we have a very loyal fan base and that was evident with the change”. With that in mind, here are the key classic rock (and more) callbacks across Made in the A.M. The British boy band, which formed on the United Kingdom version of “The X Factor” and quickly escalated to filling stadiums, has given us a new record every year since 2011.
When Drag Me Down first dropped, we were all left with our collective jaws dropped at the new mature sounding quartet. History and Twitter chatter seem to support One Direction, but to my eyes and ears, the demo planning on buying Made in the A.M. seems confined somewhat to the Directioner fandom, large as it may be. The lyrics are the star in this one; powerful and can resonate with anyone. In general, “I’m never going to tell someone what it means to them, because there’s a lot of songs where I feel something completely different from what the writer intended me to feel”. This is a tune that should not be over-looked. “If I Could Fly” is definitely the most heart-felt song on the album. Basically, it’s about missing someone when they’re not around.
I want to talk about what you’ve identified as Justin Bieber’s struggle to find a sound that sticks, though, because it isn’t a problem specific to him but rather a thread running through much of the mainstream R&B of the decade. Bonus, they sing about riding in cars, so it’s totally fitting. If one or two or three decide to go solo and are successful, then there’s less and less incentive for them to bring back One Direction.
“Long Way Down” is quieter and more introspective, with strummed acoustic guitar and words about falling from a great height: “We had a mountain but took it for granted / We had a spaceship but we couldn’t land it”. It’s snappy, full of life and we’re ready to party right now. “No one is going to get in the way of 1D”.
The Strokes'”Someday”+ Kings of Leon’s ” Sex on Fire”= “Temporary Fix”Last year it was “No Control”, while this year the One Direction thirst trap is called “Temporary Fix”. Louis is becoming a father; Liam just broke up with his longtime girlfriend. These are not feelings that One Direction’s music gives me.
They could make the return, if they wanted to. Really, what more could you ask for? You can just see the inevitable dancing spotlights as those first cymbal crashes roll in.
Today marks the release of Made in the A.M.
