Clemson vs. Syracuse live stream
Mahoney’s second rushing touchdown in the third quarter put Syracuse back within seven, 31-24, and transformed the Carrier Dome into the Loud House moniker typically reserved for basketball season.
The Orange played hard, achieved more success than most thought was possible, but ultimately fell short at the Carrier Dome against No. 1 Clemson, 37-27.
Meanwhile, Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Wayne Gallman will look to keep things rolling and hold onto the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings for Clemson. Junior college transfer quarterback Zack Mahoney scrambled twice for touchdowns, and the Orange were within striking distance early in the fourth quarter.
Watson had 360 yards passing and added 101 more on the ground in a game Clemson (10-0, 7-0 ACC) led 14-0 in the first two minutes of the game before Syracuse (3-7, 1-5), which has now lost seven consecutive games, rallied for a first-quarter tie. He completed five passes for 53 yards as Clemson moved deep into Syracuse territory, then hit Peak in the left corner of the end zone to break the tie.
The good news for Clemson fans? During that September 19th post-game press conference head coach Scott Shafer celebrated the Orange’s first 3-0 start in 24 years. The Orange went three-and-out, and Clemson went for it on fourth-and-2 and got it on a 14-yard run by Gallman to set up a 31-yard field goal by Huegel. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ABC or ESPN2 depending on regional coverage.
