1 dead, 1 injured in head-on Whitby crash

One man is dead and one in hospital after a collision on Lakeridge Road in Whitby.

It happened on Lake Ridge Road between Dundas Street and Rossland Road just before midnight on Friday.

“The Mercury crossed the centre line and travelled northbound in the southbound lane, striking the GMC”, he alleged.

Officers from Durham Regional Police responded to a call of a head-on collision at Lakeridge Road south of Rossland Road.

The 50-year-old driver of the GMC was transported to hospital, treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Cougar, identified as a 30-year-old man from Whitby, died on the scene, police said. It is now reopen, though the investigation is ongoing.
