Marshall Searcy III, who is listed as Cosby’s attorney in the suit by the seven women, declined to comment. To prove defamation, experts said, the women will need to go a long way toward showing that the underlying acts of assault occurred.
Despite making their claims public, no criminal charges have ever been brought against Cosby.
“I am not a liar”, she said at the news conference.
Cosby was sued in two states by AIG Property Casualty Company, which argued that its agreement to cover the comedian for “personal injury”, which includes defamation, libel and/or slander, did not include his denial of allegations of sexual abuse.
Mr. Cosby has not been charged with a crime.
In her opinion today, O’Connell looks at the “arising out of” exclusion noted above and declares the meaning is ambiguous.
“Mr. Cosby has employed several law firms with a combined total of over 700 lawyers in an attempt to avoid answering questions from me under oath in our case”, Dickinson’s attorney Lisa Bloom said in a statement.

The women are among dozens who have alleged Cosby molested them decades ago. In May, three accusers, Tamara Green, Therese Seignese and Linda Traitz, all sued Cosby together for defamation.
Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis, Louisa Moritz and Angela Leslie have added their names to the list of women. But during the course of the mentorship, Bowman claims she was the victim of multiple nonconsensual sexual encounters by Cosby, including walking up half-dressed and trying to rape her in a hotel room.
Tarshis, meanwhile, says she was attacked twice by Cosby when he drugged her in 1969 when she was an aspiring comedy writer aged 19.
