Brazil fightback thwarts Argentina
The much anticipated football world cup qualifying match between Argentina and Brazil has been postponed because of heavy rain in Buenos Aires.
Match officials called the game off less than an hour before kickoff at the Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires.
Despite Brazil’s improved sharpness after the halftime break, it was Argentina who came closest to scoring in the early stages of the second half.
“It’s a pity”, Argentina midfielder Lucas Biglia told Argentinian TV after the draw.

Canada edged Honduras 1-0 in the late Group A game Friday after Will Johnson’s first half goal in Vancouver.
With the score still sitting at 0-0 after more than 30 minutes of action, Argentina unleashed a quick-moving attack that saw the ball sent wide right to Gonzalo Higuain.

When it did finally go ahead, Lavezzi put the hosts – for whom Ángel Di María also started – ahead in the 34th minute but a Lucas Lima equaliser in the second half ensured a share of the spoils.
The goal boosted Brazil and it enjoyed their best period in the moments after.
With Ecuador having already moved onto nine points from three games and Chile having the opportunity to do likewise later on Thursday, the pressure will be on both Argentina and Brazil to emerge with a positive result when they finally get underway.
The top four teams qualify automatically and the fifth placed-side go into a play-off.
“Playing here, we knew it would be a tough match and a point away from home is a good return”.
