Grant HS football player killed, another injured in shooting

One Grant Union High School football was killed and another was injured in a shooting not far from campus Friday, Sacramento police said.

Sgt. Bryce Heinlein says five members of the Grant football team were returning to school from the Northridge Shopping Center at about 3:30.

As the best teams in the Stanislaus District were taking the field for the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs, Severe’s thoughts were about 80 miles north with the Grant High School family. The players drove back to the school to seek help.

Senior Jaulon Clavo, who attended Grant High School, was shot in the neck while getting food off-campus with four friends, the Sacramento Bee reported.

There has been no official confirmation as to when the game will be rescheduled. The victor will play next Friday. “I can’t imagine what it’s like to have that happen and go through it”.
