A twist for Paris climate talks: Al Gore the optimist
Following the Paris terrorist attacks, leaving over 100 dead and closure of France’s borders, entertainment entities have been struggling as how they could proceed with programming plans.
ABC has replaced its regularly scheduled 20/20 by a live edition of the show named, “Paris Under Attack” as did Nightline, which will be anchored by Juju Chang.
Coldplay also canceled the Tidal livestream of their concert that was to air from Los Angeles, saying in a statement, “Tonight’s live stream for TIDAL & KROQ has been postponed out of respect for the bad events in Paris…We’ll play a short set of old material so that your journey isn’t wasted”. U2 is hoping and praying that all of their fans in Paris were safe.
24 Hours of Reality and Live Earth- a live webcast based in the city of Paris that started on Friday- was suspended citing the unfortunate development that has affected the lives of hundreds in France’s capital. Ahead of the United Nations’ climate conference (COP 21), Gore’s organization The Climate Reality Project will be hosting a live broadcast on November 13th to raise awareness for the climate talks.
“Gore, who helped negotiate the 1997 climate treaty that failed to control global warming, will host the round-the-clock event that includes musical performances by Elton John, Duran Duran and others. We send our condolences to the families of those who have been killed or injured”, the concert’s website said.
