Elderly couple murdered in East of Kailash
Delhi Police today arrested five persons and claimed to solve the Stunning robbery and murder of an elderly couple in the East of Kailash in South-East Delhi. “There were no CCTV cameras but on prima facie it is appearing the case of robbery as the wardrobe has been ransacked and destroyed”, RS Krishnaiya Joint Commissioner of Police, South Delhi told the media.
“On November 12, the accused first carried a reconnaissance of the area and found one house deserted”. On reaching downstairs, they found that the sliding door to the victims’ room was wide open. “Thereafter, they scaled over the roof of the adjacent house from the actual targeted house”, he said.
Initial reports suggest that the couple – Manohar Lal (84) and Vimla Madan (80) – was sleeping on ground floor in their residence when unidentified looters entered the house. The robbers overpowered them and tied their hands and feet.
The elderly couple was found lying motionless on the bed and the room was ransacked.
The couple was allegedly strangled to death when they tried to resist burglars who had entered their house late last night, police said.
It is alleged that when Sanjay tried to raise an alarm, the accused came down to the ground floor and escaped from the front gate with the looted amount. Looted money and jewellery were also recovered from them although the police was yet to receive a list of the looted items. The post-mortem of the deceased was conducted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences where the cause of death was given as smothering.
