Miami Dolphins vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Meanwhile, Miami limps into Week 10 in the midst of a two-game losing streak. Currently, the Giants (5-4) are in first place, but they host New England Sunday night and the Eagles could find themselves in first place with a win combined with a Giants loss. At 4-4, Philadelphia is a contender for the division title in the NFC East. Miami on the other hand sits in the basement of the AFC East at 3-5.
Philadelphia is far from one-dimensional, but the effectiveness of the offense is dependent on the performance of the tailbacks. Their offense has come to life over the past several games by increasing their yards per game by almost 150 from the first four games of the season to the most recent four. The Dolphins average 254.6 passing yards per game, but struggle to move the chains. Kelly called Murray’s name 18 times, and he contributed 83 yards and one touchdown.
-Miami must stop running back DeMarco Murray.
Interim coach Dan Campbell said the Dolphins have plans for such situations, if they occur.
Zach Vigil blocked a Donnie Jones punt in the second quarter and the Dolphins quickly turned their good field position into a 12-yard touchdown pass to Lamar Miller.
-RUN DEFENSE: F. The Dolphins are allowing 142.1 yards per game, 31st in the NFL. Seeing as that was the rotation originally anticipated entering this season, the defense should be OK. Miami needs to stay committed to the run because the pass protection is too spotty for QB Ryan Tannehill (2.9 sacks per game) to sit in the pocket for any length of time.
The Eagles rewarded my optimism last week, and came through with a big win.
INJURY UPDATE: Safety Malcolm Jenkins returned to practice Thursday after missing two days because of a concussion. Expect Sam Bradford to do his best to exploit a defense that has looked poor this season.
But last week he put forth his best effort of the season. In the receiving end, Jordan Matthews had 133 yards and one touchdown in nine receptions while Murray added 78 yards in six catches.
‘It’s obviously something we’re aware of and that we’re working on, ‘ tight end Zach Ertz said. That was created to help him throw more accurately and consistently. Nor do we [never not have confidence in him]. “That’s why we continue to play him”. This week he faces an opponent that has been very up and down against the pass, but who allowed Sammy Watkins to run wild for over 160 yards last week.
Fans settled back for a good, old-fashioned rout, the kind they haven’t seen lately.
While Matthews looks to put his drops behind him, Grimes may still be dwelling on his pitfalls from the week before.
After an terrible start, the Philadelphia Eagles’ ground game finally is running on all cylinders.
Dolphins vs. Eagles Prediction: Eagles 27, Dolphins 17.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (7) warms up before an NFL football game against the Cleveland Browns, Sunday, November 15, 2015, in Pittsburgh. They have a lot of things, a lot of moving parts on the offense. The rookies, especially the draftees, haven’t done much on either side of the ball. Philadelphia is tied for the league lead in turnovers with 20. With 12 interceptions, they have already equaled their total from all of last season.
The changing rules of the kickoff placement throughout the past few years have made the play change drastically. Tannehill was suddenly under consistent pressure.
It shows in their record.
