Bernardo book taken off Amazon
A 631-page e-book reportedly written by notorious killer and rapist Paul Bernardo can no longer be found on Amazon, after users of the online retailer criticized its sale.
Irrespective of the law, Tim Danson says responsible corporate entities have a duty to make good-taste judgments.
As of Saturday afternoon the link to the e-book was no longer available and all mention of it had been pulled from the website.
Bernardo, who was declared a risky offender, is serving a life sentence in an eastern Ontario prison for crimes related to the rape and murder of two teenaged Ontario schoolgirls, Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy.
There’s no confirmation on whether the story in fact is a Bernardo creation, but, several inquries to his lawyer confirmed he was aware his client was writing a book.
A spokeswoman for Amazon could not confirm Bernardo is the author, and a call to Bernardo’s lawyer was not immediately returned. “I remember the total state of disbelief most Canadians felt over what this perverted psycho did”.
CityNews reached out to Amazon for a comment on the status of the book but have yet to receive an official word.
Danson said the book – depending on its contents – could play a role at Bernardo’s parole hearing scheduled for next spring.
