Trump lifts ‘SNL’ ratings to best in 3 years
That’s the amount of time being clocked by NBC over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s screen time during his hosting gig on this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live.
The show made reference to the controversy when comedian Larry David, in an obvious send-up, called out “Donald Trump is a racist” to an apparently unfazed Trump.
NBC stations have begun filing the legally required notice about Donald Trump’s broadcast time on “Saturday Night Live”, noting that it lasted 12 minutes and five seconds.
NY – Donald Trump hadn’t gotten far into his opening monologue before trouble occurred.
Trump seemed to be expecting that and the camera panned over revealing Larry David as the culprit.
“This is a chance to turn Trump’s appearance on the show into a media story that addresses his racist comments against Latinos”, they wrote in their press statement, referencing Trump’s past remarks that undocumented immigrants were “killers”, “criminals” and “rapists”.
“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC.
Trump is president, so imagine what the world is like now…Cecily Strong plays his wife, Melania Trump, who steals the show and notes that the White House is the smallest place they’ve ever lived in. Trump said that as history shows us, nothing brings two countries together like a wall. SNL has launched the careers of numerous actors, including Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray and the late John Belushi. Critics complained the show was giving Trump a platform despite what they called his racially hateful rhetoric.
This means the ratings were more than the season premiere when Miley Cyrus hosted and Hillary Clinton had a cameo. Protesters outside the “SNL” NY studios gathered before filming began, but did little to disrupt the show. “It was really well-received and probably got very good ratings”, Trump predicted Sunday morning on CNN. Heres what he had to say when asked if another host would have been a better fit in a recent interview. An off-screen heckler interrupted with a cry of “You’re a racist!“.
