This is the case with Google and a handful of other telecommunications companies such as Verizon and Sprint, which are all offering free worldwide calling and/or text messaging to France so that families can check in on loved ones in the aftermath of the terror attacks that claimed over 120 lives in the French capital yesterday.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to our colleagues and customers who have friends and family in Paris”, Verizon spokeswoman Meagan Dorsch said.
The popular voice/video call application Skype has also made all domestic and global calls to landlines and mobiles in France free of charge for the next few days.
Verizon is allowing free cell and home calls plus free text messages this weekend. Note the following details Verizon has shared. “Effective November 13, 2015, all Sprint postpaid and prepaid customers from anywhere around the world will receive free global long distance usage to France until a yet-to-be determined date”.
Hours after the conlusion of the horrific ISIS-enacted terrorists attacks in Paris, telephone carriers have reached out to offer support with free global calling. “Amid the chaos and devastation, we want to do what we can to show our support and comfort to all Sprint, Boost Mobile, and Virgin Mobile customers”.
