Britt helps No. 1 UNC beat Fairfield 92-65 in home opener
During its season-opening victory against Temple Friday, North Carolina provided an indication of how good it can be – even without senior point guard Marcus Paige – when everything is going right – when shots are falling and when the defense is in the right position.
“We just kept kicking ourselves in the foot”, tight end Christopher Herndon IV said. “With him out, everybody has different roles. Kennedy, Brice (Johnson) and the other guys have to get involved”.

“We weren’t as good as we needed to be rebounding, no question against that size and athleticism”, Temple coach Fran Dunphy said. Either way, it was a disturbing recurrence of what seem to be annual November issues for the Tar Heels, no matter how talented, no matter how experienced, no matter how many times they have been through this sort of thing before.
We’ll never know now, and by all indications it’s allowed the group tasked with coming up with the “right” coach to breathe a sigh of relief.
Yearby’s 73 rushing yards on 13 carries and team-high 79 receiving yards only solidified his status as Miami’s most consistent offensive weapon this season.

To hammer home the point, Theo Pinson drilled a long-range jumper at the buzzer, turned around and strutted toward the locker room with the score 47-36.

Jackson is considered a lean to North Carolina. During the next five minutes the Tar Heels went on a 15-7 run to build a 16-point lead.
The Tar Heels have every reason to be cocky as they are sitting pretty with a 9-1 record which puts them first in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division.
Senior forward Jake Layman led the balanced Terrapins with 16 points, and sophomore guard Melo Trimble added 14, but they had plenty of support.
Minutes later, North Carolina made its move.
