Naidu’s letter tightened noose on Gangi Reddy
Two police officials from Mauritius – Dawoodarry Tirudeo and Doorbeejun Teeruthraj escorted Gangi Reddy to Hyderabad.

Gangi Reddy is the kingpin behind the smuggling racket that is spread across several countries and was also a prime accused in the 2003 assassination attempt on the then AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu in Alipiri near Tirupati. For more read here. He was later shifted to Kadapa district, the place he shall be introduced earlier than a courtroom at Produttur.
On a request by the state police, Interpol had issued a red corner notice for him.
Meanwhile, Reddy hired advocates from India to stall the efforts of AP police in securing his deportation from Mauritius.
Director General of Police J.V. Ramudu told reporters here that the smuggler was deported with the help of various national and global agencies.
In March, his passport was additionally revoked as he had obtained it on a pretend id. The notorious smuggler, who fled to Dubai in 2014 after the police launched a manhunt for him following apprehensions that he could pose a possible threat to Naidu, would be taken to Kurnool in Rayalaseema region later in the day and he would be produced in court, sources said. He had escaped the imprisonment of 18 months and 27 days ordered by the Proddutur Court in a murder case and would be produced in the court to execute the conviction, the DGP said.
Gangi Reddy’s career in crime started in 1987 when he was involved in rioting using country-made bombs and weapons in two villages in Kadapa district during polls to district cooperative banks.
By the end of 2008, he amassed huge money in red sanders smuggling. He hired labourers and criminals from the villages located in deep forests in Tamil Nadu to smuggle the wood out of the forest to send them to Japan, China, Dubai and several other countries.
