Vigil for Paris victims held in Newcastle
Mostefai is believed to be one of seven suspects killed during the attacks which left at least 129 people dead.
A candlelight vigil for people who have lost their lives in the Paris attacks will be held in Derby today.
It was organised by Aurélien Renault, 24, who lived in Paris before moving to Liverpool to work as a French language assistant.
Berliners gathered at the Parisian square next to the French embassy and the Brandenburg Gate, which was later illuminated in the colours of the French national flag. We know that the young people getting involved in ISIS in the Middle East are mostly poor, and very poorly educated. Many attendees were dressed in black and carried flowers and French flags in hand.
“It is with dismay that we learned of the attacks in Paris”.
“Although we couldn’t be with friends and family, I thought we could gather with people in Liverpool. We are going to protect our values”, Montreal mayor Denis Coderre said as the marchers arrived at the French consulate.
More than 1,000 people are expected to attend Saturday’s vigil.
Asked how she felt about the turn out at the vigil, she added: “It’s really heartwarming, people have come in the cold, in the wind, to pay their respects”.
“In adversity, we need to keep together and be strong together – not just in France, but in Europe and internationally,”she said”.
Halifax is also set to honour the victims of Friday’s attacks. With the rise of Islamic terrorism including Da’ish (The Islamic State), and other forms of terrorism across the globe, these attacks are becoming all too common.
