Kyle Busch wins Xfinity race at Phoenix again
So how do the six drivers juggle what’s best for their own team with achieving maximum results for their organization on Sunday?
Help will be meted out, the consensus was, to nobody.
Should one of the seven remaining eligible drivers in the Chase win Sunday’s race, they would automatically advantage to the title race.
Edwards, in his first year with the Toyota team, was asked about helping Busch.
The race was scheduled for early Sunday afternoon, but a rain shower shortly before the start spoiled the day.
That’s always the case but this weekend, it’s more so.
Kevin “Happy” Harvick comes to Phoenix as the defending season champion and the most dominant driver in Phoenix worldwide Raceway history.
Johnson continued to lead until the lap-40 yellow flag, but he was forced to join Kurt Busch in the back for the restart after serving a pit-road speeding penalty.
“The auto (No. 41 Haas Automation Chevrolet) has got speed”, Busch said.
Harvick, never big on answering questions that answers to which are obvious, was Harvick.
“When I think about what a few of the tracks have done – the towels with the fence on the 24th lap and a few of the different signage and things on the track – it’s been really overwhelming”, Gordon said. If the race goes beyond 6 p.m. ET, viewers can see it on NBC Sports Network. Four drivers will race for the title next week, and only Jeff Gordon had earned a berth. Now seventh in the standings, 28 points behind forth-place Martin Truex, Busch essentially needs a win at Phoenix to earn his way to Homestead.
“Once we get out on the racetrack, it’s every man for himself”, Edwards said.
“It’s nerve-wracking and the way that everybody looks at this is that it’s a challenge”, Busch said Friday ta Phoenix worldwide Raceway.
“I don’t want to be the spoiler”, Johnson said. That would allow both of us to advance to the championship round at Homestead. “Everybody feels it, everybody is dealing with it. And it is a matter of who deals with it (best)”.
“A top-five isn’t going to be good enough”. To do that, Logano will need to beat Denny Hamlin, who he has had run ins with, beat Kevin Harvick, who he has had run ins with, beat Tony Stewart, who he has had run ins with… you get the picture, but I could list a lot more. Even without a victory, at least two drivers will advance on points. Perhaps most famously in the 2007 all-star race in Charlotte in May.
(Harvick) “I think if you’re going to have to go one place in that scenario…” Afterward they feuded for six months.
