Bihar doomed if Lalu, Nitish win, says Modi
The run-up to the fourth-phase voting saw hectic campaigning by Modi, Amit Shah – camping in Bihar for almost a month – Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, BSP supremo Mayawati, Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad and JD-U president Sharad Yadav apart from left leaders.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar doesn’t fail to remind the electorate that the rule of law has been established and development has reached the people in shape of roads to electricity.
Expressing his astonishment, CM Nitish Kumar is alleged to have said that “I am astonished at Modiji’s brazen use of divisive language”.
“They have made fun of democracy. When Bihar has voted me to become the PM then how can I be an outsider?”, Modi asked. As the political circles in the national capital believe, the prime minister may just grab the opportunity to rejig his cabinet now, whatever the outcome is in Bihar.
Rejecting the Prime Minister’s charge that “Mahagathbandhan” leaders are trying to “steal” 5 per cent from quota to give it to a particular community, he said “no leader of the “grand alliance” has sought reservation in the name of religion. The direction of wind is clear”, he said. Lalu asked voters in Modi style.
PM showed his concern about the condition of women in the state and said that a group of women have sent him a memorandum with a complaint that the state government is not listening to them.
“Madam Soniaji, you ruled for 35 years. This is the proof of your failure”, he said, assuring women that their turning out in large numbers at BJP rallies will not go unrewarded. “Your condition and the state’s poor condition can not be changed without changing the government”, Modi said.
“They have turn into a burden on Bihar. It needs two engines of the state as well as the Centre”. Shah claimed that BJP has made maximum number of chief ministers from the extremely backward caste and in Bihar also only a “khanti” (true) Bihari will be made the CM if the NDA wins the election. They are not anxious… Highlighting the work carried out on Ganga cleanliness and development of ghats, Modi said he wanted to replicate it in the land of Kosi. “The person who was against Lalu has now joined hands with him”.
“The Election Commission should take strict action against such statements”, it added. The counting will take place on November 8.
While “Modi wave” did not amount to much in Seemanchal where BJP lost all four Lok Sabha seats in 2014, the region with big Muslim concentration has traditionally seen a strong saffron presence and the party had done well there in the 2010 Assembly polls.
