Ronda Rousey Hospitalized After Knock-Out!
Holm now takes over as the female bantamweight champion and she is the second holder of the title after Rousey.
She might have been the underdog coming into the fight, but Holly Holm left a victor during the highly anticipated match.
“This one’s going to be a much longer fight because she’s a 19-time boxing World Champion with a hundred percent takedown defense and like, head kick knockouts” Rousey explained to Fallon. “Ronda continued to trash-talk Holly, “[Holly’s] the one that put the fist in my face, I didn’t touch her, she’s the one that touched me.
Holm pounced on the motionless Rousey, throwing several punches before the referee called off the fight.
Rousey got Holm clinched against the fence and threw a few knees. Every little thing, every detail, when I think about stuff like that, every hour I was in the gym with my coach, every support I had at home, my family… there’s just so many elements.
Many had speculated that Rousey would be a part of a huge fight at UFC 200 in July, whether it be against longtime foe Cris “Cyborg” Justino, or her new rival in Holly Holm. The win is being described as the biggest upset in the promotion’s history.
After the loss, Rousey left the stadium to receive treatment for a concussion and facial cuts at a nearby hospital, skipping the post-fight media conference.
She was however knocked out cold in the second round and UFC president Dana White later confirmed Rousey had been taken to hospital. “I did visualize the kick being there, and I also visualized myself being in other situations in the fight because I didn’t want to get in there and it be brand new”. But there is an argument to be made that these two could go at it once again. The is the first mixed martial arts loss of Rousey’s career.
“I was obsessed with games growing up, so it’s surreal to see myself on the cover”, Rousey said in Saturday’s announcement.
