Ravens gift Jaguars a win by committing blatant last-second facemask
The Baltimore Ravens host the Jacksonville Jaguars in one of the National Football League games on Sunday, November 15 start time at 1:00 PM ET, at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Jaguars defeated the Ravens Sunday, 22-20, on a Jason Myers 53-field goal that came on an untimed down after time had expired.
“I’m not sure how it will play out… but it’s going to take an terrible lot for me not to be out there”, he said. “That was probably the wildest finish I’ve ever been involved in”. Hurns and Robinson dominate the tandem receiver game and the Baltimore Ravens will be powerless to stop them. Everybody feels they’re ready to go, but you still have to follow the protocols the trainers and coaches want you to take. “We’ve got to continue to move forward and continue to press ahead for next week”. The Bills may not be the better team, but they’re rested, healthy, and hungry coming off of an emotional win. It was a good sign for the Ravens, who are looking to get more production out of their young tight ends in the second half of the season. That trend continued against the Ravens beleaguered secondary despite constant attention. Robinson has proved over and over again that he is beyond matchup proof and put up nearly 100 yards against Darrelle Revis last week. “We know what’s in front of us, but here we go, man. We’re gonna give it our all”. Williams caught a slant from quarterback Joe Flacco and ran 21 yards for the score. When he did throw nice passes, his receivers dropped them.
What has to kill the Ravens most, well maybe not most, but enough, was that the Jaguars snapped the ball before that Dumervil play with about the equivalent of one or two tenths of a second left on the clock. Ravens QB Joe Flacco has completed 62 percent of passes for 1,818 yards and 10 TDs with one interception in his last seven home games…. Luckily Dumervil gave them a boost. “We still gotta eliminate turnovers on our end”. Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil was doing what comes naturally, rushing the passer.
Entering the field in the redzone, Flacco ran 16 yards to set up Baltimore on a first-and-goal. He had Bortles in his grasp and they had no time to make a play happen, all he had to do was just not grab the facemask.
The Jaguars were out of timeouts and trying to get into field goal range. It was not his best game, but he showed his teammates he can be a leader and has the wherewithal to pull through when they need him the most.
Blake Bortles finished the day 22 of 45 for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
Receiver Marqise Lee (hamstring) and linebacker Dan Skuta (groin) also are questionable.
Have we won any of the games we should have so far this season? Yes. This game will be much different without those two players, as the Patriots will have to rely on other weapons to get the job done.
It’s his spot now, one he won’t relinquish even if Lee returns this week from a nagging hamstring injury or when rookie Rashad Greene (thumb) returns next week from short-term injured reserve.
In our five keys to victory, we touched on the play of the Jaguars offense that is not lacking playmakers. But Jacksonville lost four turnovers, and NY had no turnovers. On the next play, tight end Crockett Gilmore caught a 10-yard pass from Flacco for a touchdown.
-OLB Thurston Armbrister started in place of the injured Dan Skuta (groin).
Ravens coach John Harbaugh has lamented the number of penalties by his team has committed this season.
-DT Sen’Derrick Marks left the game with an elbow injury. His status for next week’s game against the Titans is uncertain. The Cowboys have been on the verge of a “W” in the last two games, losing in the final minutes against Seattle and in overtime against the Eagles. Flacco threw a pair of interceptions to cornerback Davon House and also lost a fumble in the third quarter.
