Dez Bryant was interfered with at end of Cowboys-Bucs game
RB Doug Martin got a good chunk of yards early in the game but the Bucs largely struggled to run the ball for the final three quarters, finishing with 81 yards.
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been able to win a game since Tony Romo went down in week two.
The Cowboys’ losing streak is now seven following Sunday’s 10-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
After second-half drives that started at their own 20-, 8-, 4- and 8-yard-lines, the Bucs began their final drive at their own 44 thanks to a crucial defensive stop as Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant dropped a 3rd-and-1 pass, leaving the Cowboys to punt from deep in their own territory. Given the Bucs allowed 32.2 points per game in their five losses this season – and rank dead last in red zone defense – the Cowboys should get off the bus in attack mode.
“I played awful last week, the worst game in National Football League history probably, ” he said. Hard to bet against it. Fortunately – fingers crossed – we’ll never know. “My body language is always good”.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston’s streak of games without an interception ended at four as he threw two against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
It was the seventh straight loss for the Cowboys. In addition to beating Claiborne in the first half, he continued to create separation and make plays in the second half, helping Tampa move the ball. We know how we roll. The Cowboys recovered, but a holding penalty negated the play.
“I forgot about that already”, Winston said. “Had a great fake, a great call, found the way into the end zone. The play before that I have no recollection”. Three plays later, however, S Bradley McDougald intercepted a pass intended for Bryant in the end zone to seal the victory. The star receiver, who made headlines the past week with a profanity-laced tirade aimed at reporters, later said while he expected a penalty to be called, he nevertheless should have done more to make the catch. I thought I struck it well.
“To be really honest about this situation, yeah [it was a rough week], but I’m not going to say it had anything to do with my performance”, Bryant said. “I’m not going to sit here and make a ton of excuses”.
Darren McFadden had been the Cowboys’ workhorse the past couple weeks, but he was ineffective against the Bucs.
Winston’s two turnovers were an example of the spotty accuracy he displayed throughout the afternoon, but he still finished the game with 264 yards through the air and spearheaded the winning drive.
Tampa Bay presents an interesting challenge for the Cowboys, in what should be a winnable game for Dallas. His go-ahead touchdown run was his fourth rushing score of the season, giving him the team lead.
“We’re not the same old Bucs”.
“He would not let us put his name on there – he let us put the Smith family name, but not him alone”, said Larry Minter, the Big Sandy High athletic director and head coach, as well as a former player for the Wildcats. “I’m just glad we got another opportunity”.
Even with backup quarterback Matt Cassel under center, the Bucs’ secondary will have their hands full Sunday due to the presence of Witten and Bryant.
“I saw the flag and then I saw the game-winning touchdown, ” Evans said with a smile.
