Watch massive explosion which has seen James Bond movie Spectre enter Guinness
“It is absolutely tremendous that the Guinness World Records have recognized Chris Corbould’s incredible work in Spectre in which he created the largest explosion ever in film history”, said Broccoli and fellow Spectre producer Michael G. Wilson in a statement accompanying the announcement of the new record.
Waltz is well cast as Oberhauser, a villain who comfortably harks back to the classic Bond Baddie while staying firmly within the modern structure that the Craig-era films have perfected. It’s quote possibly the most badass Guinness World Record that one could hold.
While the derivative two-part story is one that’s been all too used in recent movies, it more than gets the job done.
After Craig’s previous three outings as Bond, “Spectre” feels nearly light-hearted in comparison. Even with the big explosion, it failed to blow away the $88.4 million brought in by the last Bond movie Skyfall in 2012.
It topped the North American box office at the weekend with $70.4 million but fell below initial takings for the last 007 film “Skyfall” which took $88.4 million when it opened in 2012. There’s a really good long shot at the beginning of the film and looks like it was all done with practical effects for the most part. On Metacritic the film has a rating of 60 out of 100, which means mixed or average reviews. The film has been praised for having plenty of action and its opening scene. Mendes’ use of elaborately choreographed stunts, rather than CGI, is on full display as Bond gingerly walks along the edge of a building and then minutes later is wrestling with a bad guy in a helicopter spinning out of control above a crowd of thousands of revellers. Rumors about Daniel Craig leaving the role started when a few of his comments made it seem like he was done. He did not confirm that he was done but rumors surfaced again after his latest comments.
One of the charms of “Spectre” is that it’s the first Bond film starring Daniel Craig in which the universe is fully formed.
Asked if he thought he would be back, he said on Watch What Happens Live: “We are all hoping he will but we just don’t know”.
