No casualty of any Indian in Paris terror attacks so far: Embassy
At least 120 people were killed in a series of attacks targeting young concert-goers, soccer fans and Parisians enjoying a Friday night out at popular restaurants, in the deadliest violence to strike France since World War II.
Prabhat said Paris was home to a few 100,000 Indians.
India went on high alert on Saturday following a series of terror attacks in Paris that left more than 120 people dead and many others injured.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal said “adequate” security measures have been taken around the embassy.
Border checks have been restored with immediate effect. In the event of an emergency, please dial the appropriate number: French Police 17 or 197, Center for Consular Assistance and Protection of the Chinese Embassy in Paris 0033-615742537, and the consular protection hotline of the Foreign Ministry of China 0086-10-12308, the embassy said. “We thank the Indian central and state authorities for their collaboration”, the French envoy added. Meanwhile, no Indian national has been identified among the casualties.”An information phone line for tourists and visitors in Paris has been established: +33 (0) 1 45 55 80 00 Indian Embassy in Paris: +33 (0) 1 40 50 70 70, ” the release informed.”Security outside French institutional premises is also beefed up”.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have condemned the horrific attacks and have extended their full support to the French Government.
Earlier, Indian ambassador Mohan Kumar hoped all Indians were safe. However, entries of Indian nationals holding a valid Schengen visa are not affected and French consular services across India continue to function normally and are issuing visas for France to Indian nationals.
