‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Uses Chewbacca and BB-8 to Promote Verizon
“Season of the Force” is part of a much bigger plan to create ‘Star Wars Land, ‘ which will span 14 acres.
Verizon uses the Star Wars characters to show the pitfalls of data throttling, which a few cell phone companies use to regulate bandwidth speed. The Ex Machina and Harry Potter actor told Entertainment Weekly, “They have their own relationship, which is individual and unusual”. Her voice is heard in the “Star Wars” TV spot that premiered Sunday on Twitter.
The character, who’s visible in the center of the “Force Awakens” poster as a tiny, be-goggled creature, is computer-generated from Nyong’o’s motion-captured performance.
Nyong’o is reportedly grateful for the role because of the emphasis put on her eyes. “So it was definitely a gift to have that be the means to [Kanata’s] magic”.
According to Abrams, we find Kanata in a castle, where she lives with a group of “misfits and miscreants”.
More and more information about the movie is being released, after relative secrecy and speculation since the movie’s initial announcement, which should, in theory, translate into even more eagerness to find out what Supreme Leader Snoke is up to, or why Rey was abandoned on Jakku by her family years earlier.
“All that backstory will be forthcoming”, he said.
I am, I shamefully admit, beginning to get a little sick with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I don’t think there’s any reason for concern, then, that by watching these tv spots and previews, you’re spoiling the entire movie for yourself.
And for “Star Wars” fans, don’t count on these overlays being a permanent installation in the park or to appear in the much anticipated “Star Wars” land. The Walt Disney World version of the event, minus Hyperspace Mountain, opens December 1 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
