Bihar polls: Shatrughan Sinha targets PM Modi
Later, he will be elected leader of the legislature party of the Grand Alliance.
The Grand Secular Alliance took full advantage of this statement and projected NDA to be the enemy of SCs, STs, Backward Castes and EBCs.
But it may not be these petty games alone which let down the BJP. BJP’s intolerance towards Muslims had provoked the killing of three Muslims in the past two months on suspicion of them eating or carrying beef. The electoral battering of the BJP in the Delhi state elections did not have much external impact, barring raising a few speculation about whether the BJP could be worsted in the election in Bihar and the implications of that in terms of governance at the Centre and the implementation of the government’s promise to ease of doing business in India and introduce other policy and procedural reforms.
Even a maverick like Swamy could not directly criticize President Pranab Mukherjee for voicing sentiments similar to those of the disaffected intelligentsia.
BJP veterans like former party presidents Lal Krishna Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi have called for a “thorough review” of the election defeat; hitherto the party has refused to pin accountability.
However, Modi and Shah can not absolve themselves of responsibility.
“Now, the BJP’s role will be positive and will always raise its voice for the people of Bihar”, he further said. Also Modi playing big brother to Nepal, which adjoins Bihar, appears to have spurned voters from BJP. In retrospect, his mistakes seem obvious. When the same question was thrown at Chief Minister he did not reply but said that the time will tell (what will happen).
The excruciatingly slow pace of development or “prudent gradualism”, to quote the well-known economist, Jagdish Bhagwati, is probably another reason for the growing popular disenchantment with his rule.
It is hard to believe that the BJP did not get any feedback on the negative impact of Modi’s campaign style. But for today’s impatient generation, only quick results are of value.
And it goes without saying that Lalu Prasad Yadav will be one of the main guest.
Patna: Bihar’s caretaker chief minister Nitish Kumar may take oath with a small team of ministers on November 20 in case RJD and Congress delay providing the list of ministers from their quota.JD(U) sources said in case of his own party, Nitish has a free hand and no one would interfere in it except for offering a few suggestions.
JD-U leaders say the event – where the star attraction will be RJD chief Lalu Prasad – will mark a new beginning of opposition unity in the country.
