Notre Dame WR Will Fuller says he’s coming back for senior season
Energy, focus and precision were in curiously short supply for a Senior Day home finale at sold-out-but-subdued Notre Dame Stadium.
“That’s pretty insane”, Adams said with a grin.
On a night when Notre Dame celebrated its 2014-15 Atlantic Coast Conference tournament title, the Irish got off to a hot start for 2015-16. But how badly does Notre Dame need to flash against Boston College?
Sure, that’s the focus within the Notre Dame locker room, especially as underclassmen like Kizer see their senior teammates cherishing one last game-and win-inside their home stadium.
Fuller’s overall receptions (44 in nine games) are on pace to be below last year’s total of 76 in 13 games, but his 20.5 yards per catch is up from last year’s 14.4.
Style Points. The Irish have just three games left this season: ACC also-rans Wake Forest and Boston College, and a potential playoff-deciding date with Stanford in the season finale. Chubb has accumulated 78 tackles on the year, far and away more than anyone else on the team. “It’s insane that if we would have went the other way how things would have been much different”. “We find ways to lose”. The top four teams in the rankings advance to the college football playoffs that determine the national champion. My favorite was the way he disposed of the final defender in his way with an nearly dismissive stiff-arm.
NOTES: Notre Dame RB C.J. Prosise watched the game from the sidelines one week after he sustained head, neck and shoulder injuries against Pittsburgh.
“One for the highlight reel”, Kelly said. “Obviously, it was a big part of the game where we’re backed up, and just a terrific run”. Wake Forest made a few in the passing game and had success on the ground as well. Wake Forest has a 3-6 record for the year and has lost three games in a row.
No surprise here, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are heavily favored to beat up on Wake Forest. While the senior sat out for precautionary measures, Adams ran for 141 yards on 17 carries, his long run buoying a yardage total that didn’t tell the story of how tough the sledding was inside the tackles.
Extra point: Wake’s last five games against top-5 opponents (AP poll): Foes 248, Deacs 13.
Kizer gave Notre Dame a 7-0 lead on a 12-yard run with 3:41 to go in the first quarter.
The Irish won 28-7 anyway, getting a 98-yard touchdown run from Josh Adams, scoring twice on two trips into the red zone and adding another TD on a 28-yard interception return by Andrew Trumbetti.
