Tom Hanks’ ‘Bridge of Spies’ Movie Cancels Paris Premiere
While Disney had domestic rights to the film, Fox was releasing it in Europe and had organized a premiere event in Berlin on Friday night. The screening was scheduled to take place on Sunday.
Portman, who lives in France, also postponed her scheduled French television appearances to promote the film.
Sunday’s premiere of Steven Spielberg’s “Bridge of Spies”, starring Tom Hanks, has been cancelled after the terrorist attacks in Paris Friday. Additionally, French distributor Mars Distribution has canceled all interviews for Natalie Portman’s Jane Got a Gun, as well as the film’s premiere Monday.
Bridge of Spies is the fourth feature for Hanks and Spielberg and I am excited to see them reunite and tackle the Cold War for the very first time. “Further, we stand with the people of Paris and our thoughts go out to all those affected by these disgusting events”, Fox said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Terrorists targeted several sites in the French capital on Friday (13Nov15), with armed men shooting innocent bystanders at restaurants and bars.
Deadline has also reported that the major theater chains in Paris, including Gaumont-Pathe, UGC and MK2 have all closed their theaters for Saturday afternoon.
