Eddie Lacy ruled out for Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions
Lacy’s absence from Sunday’s game is something of a surprise.
Next week’s game will be for the division lead regardless of what happens today. The Packers and Vikings have not met yet this year, and their second meeting is slated for Week 17 at Lambeau Field. For more on that, check out this week’s “One Last Look“. Head coach Mike McCarthy announced earlier this week that James Starks had earned the opportunity to work as the lead back, and that indeed appears to be the case. Starks will be backed up by undrafted rookie Alonzo Harris. However, shortly after Levitan tweeted that it was a possibility, multiple outlets reported that Lacy would officially be listed as inactive as the Packers host the Detroit Lions in hopes of stopping a two-game skid. It’s the first game Lacy has missed this season, but it’s not the first time he’s been injured. This throws out the game Rodgers started against the Bears in 2012 but did not finish after breaking his collarbone on the first drive. Starks has a 112-yard effort and a 95-yard game to his credit on the ground this season and he’s also been a factor in the passing game with 19 catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
A Packers squad with Rodgers under center hasn’t lost three games in a row since 2008.
