Did Rousey predict her UFC 193 loss to Holm?
Holm’s single-handedly outfought, arguably, one of the best UFC fighters of all time and shocked the globe. Holm is the first person to win a round against Rousey. “I’ve been on the losing side of a fight, and I wanted the rematch, I wanted to avenge my loss”. “That’s the way I expected Holly to fight. Obviously, I thought Ronda would have more answers”. She’s involved in a film project, starring in Patrick Swayze’s former bouncer role in a remake of “Roadhouse”.
“I was obsessed with games growing up, so it’s surreal to see myself on the cover”, Rousey said in Saturday’s announcement.
“I don’t look at this belt and think I made it; I still think I have things that I need to do”.
Rousey entered the bantamweight title fight in Melbourne, Australia as the reigning champion and the overwhelming favourite to extend her unbeaten record to 13 fights.
It will likely take Rousey a few time to bounce back, but Rousey vs. Holm 2.0. might pull in more money than Mayweather and Pacquiao did. But for a star who’d been writing “Retire Undefeated” on her hand wraps post-workout, the loss is bigger than just a match.
Rousey did have a shot at locking up her patented armbar on Holm, but the former three-division boxing world champion survived that attack. “You know when Albuquerque and New Mexico got behind holly, that’s all we needed”, said Jackson Wink Striking Coach Brandon Gibson.
Rousey was taken to the hospital and held overnight for observation. She did not have a concussion according to a representative, but Dana White said she’d need stitches to close up her lip.
Ever the promoter, White saw it as a special day.
“There will absolutely be a rematch”. “This was one of those moments in fighting that makes it insane and exciting”.
