RUMOURS: Man Utd to move for unhappy Robben
The Mirror report that Robben is unhappy with the Bavarian giants, and specifically, that he is “at war” with Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
Manchester United have been put on red alert over the availability of Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The latest report suggests that Robben could well be that man, with Louis van Gaal knowing his compatriot’s calibre well from working together with him in the past.
If you’d said a few years ago that Robben could move to United then it would have been a brilliant idea but as he has only got a maximum of a couple of years left in his career at the highest level, our efforts would be better placed elsewhere.
And his ambition to bring the curtain down on his global career at the 2016 Euros will also give United hope if they decide to firm up their interest.
And Bayern boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that he is unable to do anything about Lewandowski’s criticisms because the Dutchman is too old to change his ways.
I’d personally be very surprised to see Robben join Manchester United in January, or at any point for that matter.
The 31-year-old has just recovered from two months out with a torn stomach muscle, but notched a goal against Arsenal at the Allianz Arena, and bagged two in the Netherlands 3-2 victory over Wales on Friday night (November 14). However, it is West London club Chelsea which met the £12million asking price by Holland’s PSV Eindhoven.
