Peyton Manning has been the pinnacle of greatness at the quarterback position for the vast majority of my life. I just appreciate greatness. I felt good enough to go out there and play.

Since giving up 30-plus points in Weeks 2-4, the Chiefs defense has had games of 18, 16, 13, 10 and 13 points.

Now that we have confirmation Peyton Manning is indeed injured with a partially torn plantar fascia in his right foot, fantasy owners have to wonder if he’ll play in Week 11. Father Time is undefeated and untied.

Right now, Father Time appears to be putting a beating on Peyton Manning. “I probably should have made the decision not to play him in the game”, Kubiak told reporters.

Archie Manning leaned back in his chair and muttered: “I hate football”.

He looked broken down that day, but nothing like he looked against the Chiefs this week. If not for a breakdown in Week 2 at Arrowhead, Kansas City could be 2-0 against Denver.

He finished the day with just 35 yards on 5-of-20 passing, four interceptions, two sacks and an nearly unheard-of zero passer rating before being benched late in the third quarter.

Manning entered the game banged up.

At the end of the first quarter, Manning became the NFL’s all-time passing leader with 71,840 passing yards.

Not that Manning enjoyed the moment.

The rest of the game must have felt as pleasant as that trip to the proctologist. He raced past the last Broncos player with a chance to stop him, safety T.J. Ward, and into the end zone to complete an 80-yard play.

On Saturday, he showed up with a new ailment: sore ribs. If you play, you are accountable. The Packers lost their third straight. Cornerback Marcus Peters picked off Manning’s first pass. Also coming up with interceptions were Sean Smith, Ron Parker and Josh Mauga.

After starting 1-5, I’m content with where things are right now. He completed one more pass to Broncos receivers than he did to Chiefs defenders.

There has been no indication of how long, if at all, Manning could be sidelined by the injury.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been fairly steadfast amid criticism of his play in 2015, but most of that criticism was based on the fact that he was learning a new offense at 39.

The picture-perfect Manning missiles happen too infrequently now.

Father Time is well passed knocking on Manning’s door. Dennis Allen needs to take over. His Colts’ teams were as clockwork of an offense every year as any team in the history of football. Payton is as responsible for that talent – or lack of – as general manager Mickey Loomis. They want to compete.

And while there’s simply no doubting that Manning’s best days are certainly behind him, and this season is likely to be his last in an National Football League uniform, we may now have a legitimate reason for why Manning performed so poorly.

What is wrong with the Packers? Archie spent so much time there, he got friendly with the usher who manned that location. Do I feel more comfortable out there? Yes.
