Dell contradicts Microsoft on Windows 10 rollout
A USB installer may not make a difference to majority of Windows users who will either get Windows 10 as a free update or via a newly purchased device.
HP vice president for product strategy and customer experience for personal systems Mike Nash said, “Customers can go buy Windows 10 machines on HP.com right now and you’ll have them on July 29th”.
Newegg, meanwhile, is also taking pre-orders for a range of Windows 10 flavors including Home, Pro, OEM, and Full versions, as well as downloadable versions of the operating system. If you want to order one, you can do so here.
You can either pay for a downloadable version of Windows 10 or opt for a boxed copy… and if you opt for the latter, it looks like there won’t be any DVDs inside the box.
The announcements follow Microsoft’s backtracking on an earlier statement that it did not expect PC makers to start shipping Windows 10 devices on July 29 because the final version has not been shipped to them yet.
Windows 10 is expected to launch on July 29, so the August ship date is rather interesting. Nonetheless, the other option is still available for those who prefer to have hard copies of their operating systems present in storage form. Now, however, it seems that the date has been pushed further back August 30.
Microsoft believes that PC platforms will not have the required tools and drivers ready to run Windows 10 upon launch; however HP’s Nash refuses to agree with the tech giant.
