Air France passengers uneasy leaving Logan Airport
Airlines are reporting cancellations of up to 50 per cent on flights into Paris after a series of terror attacks in the French capital killed at least 128 people.
On Friday, 8 terrorists carried out attacks at 6 locations throughout Paris killing over 100 people.
Singapore Airlines said that it will waive all fees for re-booking or re-routing for confirmed tickets on its flights arriving at or departing from Paris.
Easyjet said it is operating its flights to Paris as normal but anyone travelling in the next 48 hours can cancel and get a refund. United and American decline to give details on the occupancy levels of their flights.
Ten tour groups from Hong Kong with a total of about 250 people were now in Paris and all have reported they are safe, said Joseph Tung Yao-chung, Travel Industry Council executive director.
“The Port Authority police are on heightened alert at all of the agency’s bridge, tunnel, rail, World Trade Center and other facilities following today’s tragic attacks in Paris”, Buccino said. “A certain percentage of companies will automatically cancel trips to a city in crisis and evacuate their travelers quickly”.
Travelers need to be prepared for a few delays, however, because of tightened security, both spokesmen said.
Even travellers who go to Paris are likely to be in a less celebratory mood.
In addition to the airline updates, citizens of Paris as well as tourist should be aware that the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum and other tourist attraction are closed until further notice. Separately, EasyJet said it will operate six more evacuation flights from the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el Sheikh, the starting point of the crashed Russian Metrojet flight.
