Unlucky Chelsea still ‘together’ – Matic
After holding the horrific record of being the first Chelsea manager under the Abramovich reign to slump to three straight defeats, Mourinho seems to be standing on shaky ground.
The Blues scribe questioned why Adam didn’t receive a yellow from the man in black, with the final suggestion that he produced a “forearm smash” on Nemanja Matic.
Chelsea did not deserve to lose this remarkable game to Stoke, but that will not alter renewed questions over whether Jose Mourinho deserves to lose his job.
Mourinho was absent as he served a one-match stadium suspension resulting from his half-time confrontation with referee Jonathan Moss in the 2-1 loss at West Ham last month.
He was back at the team hotel during the televised Stoke contest, surely tuning in, despite his pre-match suggestions he might not.
“What is going well is that the team is together, everyone understands the situation we are in and we will try to be more together and work hard to make this situation better”.
“The ball from Shaqiri was superb, he was tremendous all game, and then Glen Johnson put the ball into the box, it came to me and I tried something, which went well”.
The title holders are languishing in 16th position with just 11 points from their opening 12 games of the campaign, and Lampard knows how important it is for Chelsea to get out of their rut as soon as possible.
“It has also happened to Van Gaal and me”, the Chilean said.
Whether Mourinho will remain at Stamford Bridge or be sacked, is still not certain, as his team have produced the worst start ever by a defending champion, losing as many as seven out of the opening twelve games this term. We all trust in Mourinho, just like the fans. We deserved to win it, I think, but we lost.
Mark Hughes, meanwhile, does not buy into the idea that foreign players need time to adjust to the Premier League with the Stoke manager admitting he expects £12million record signing Xherdan Shaqiri to perform well every week.
