Clinton and Sanders disagree over changes in marijuana laws
“The base voters in our state in the Democratic Presidential primary are African-Americans”, Clay Middleton, Clinton’s SC state director, said in an interview with CNN. “They say wonderful things about me”, Clinton said.
What I most enjoyed about the Democratic debate was that it was in the format of a forum.
That prompted a sharp response from the Clinton campaign, with spokesman Josh Schwerin accusing Sanders and his strategists of engaging “in the type of personal attacks that they previously said he wouldn’t do”.
Sanders and his team have consistently said he is not attacking Clinton but instead drawing contrasts with the Democratic front-runner.
“Everybody evolves on issues – nothing wrong with that”, he said. “It seemed like the other candidates wanted to accomplish something else”. “And we do need, in my opinion, a targeted effort at people and communities that have not had the benefits of the recovery thus far”.
“I’m not sure if at this point any help that he may give himself can get him over the hump, but I think he did have a good showing”, Whitt said. Clinton thanked Sanders and continued to laugh. That was the same amount as both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. They want to know why they can’t afford health care, why we have the grotesque level of income and wealth inequality. “And I do think you have to control your borders”. That is not Hillary Clinton’s position at all. “You know, I was there on the [Trans-Pacific Partnership] from way back, that was-Hillary Clinton took a little while to get there”. “And they can actually look and see what I have said and done throughout my career”, Clinton said.
That’s comparable to the 19-point, 50 percent to 31 percent advantage Mrs. Clinton had over Mr. Sanders in a CNN/ORC poll taken in August.
Republican David Millage sees it as more likely than Democrat Porter McNeil.
Clinton brought a similar message to the MSNBC’s “First in the South Democratic Candidates Forum” on Friday night. “I’m just proud to be a Democrat and I’m proud that I’ve worked so hard for the Democratic party”. It was a charge O’Malley has made in recent weeks on the trail in Iowa but had never before pushed in front of a national audience or the national media. The crowd cheered. Then Sanders joined in, saying, “I think the American people are exhausted of hearing about your damned e-mails”. From there, he’ll head to Las Vegas where he’ll address an immigrant rights organization.
Clinton also sounded a much softer tone on the death penalty than a few of her rivals.
After Sanders’ speech, former North Carolina Sen.
At the event last week, she promised to exercise executive power on deportation relief for undocumented immigrants. In 2008, former NY City Mayor Rudy Guiliani held a 12-point lead, and in 2012, businessman Herman Cain held a slight lead over former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Clinton filed for the primary Monday on a stronger footing in New Hampshire than she had during the summer when Vermont Sen. Sanders shouted on the debate stage, inviting laughs and a handshake from Clinton. And so, while their gloves may be off, in the parlance of campaign reporters, her opponents are pulling their punches.
When the issue of Hillary Rodham Clintons private e-mail server came up last month in the first Democratic presidential debate, I and you, too, I suspect leaned in closer to the TV.
