Confusion still not resolved at DDCA over fourth Test
In another setback, DDCA may not also host matches of the World T20 in March.
“We have told the DDCA clearly it would not get any T20 World Cup match if it could not host the fourth Test. However, we do not want to jump the gun”.
By coming clean on the tax issue, the DDCA hopes to clear the big hurdle that stands in the way of hosting the final India-South Africa Test next month. But I believe they have presented the wrong picture in front of the Delhi CM. “The DDCA has not been able to get the necessary approval and with their bank accounts also sealed following a court order, they won’t be in a position to pay the amount”.
Expressing his views on the BCCI’s recent proposal to the PCB to play limited-over-series in India, Thakur said that if Pakistan are not interested in playing then they would not be forced. “We have submitted the balance sheets of the last two years and they have been ratified by the executive committee”. The only issue is BCCI can host any country which is the full member of ICC as per the Future Tour programs.
The logjam regarding Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) hosting the fourth Test between India and South Africa continued on Monday with the tax department of the state government yet to give clearance for the game scheduled from December 3-7. “We are working towards our goals of getting things in order and we are very positive that things will be sorted out in time”, he added.
The DDCA has been facing the charges of financial irregularities after former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad raised the issue.
On a grievance filed by former cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi and different cricketers, Delhi authorities has additionally ordered a probe into the alleged monetary irregularities within the DDCA.
The DDCA is reportedly running bankrupt and hence unable to meet the Rs 24 crore demanded by the government as entertainment tax for the Test, which is why they sought Delhi Chief Minister’s help following BCCI’s warning.
