Walker orders Alaska flags lowered in mourning for Paris victims
Flags on public buildings across South Dakota are flying at half-staff through sunset Thursday as a sign of respect for victims of the attacks in Paris last week.
U.S. President Barack Obama and Florida Governor Rick Scott both issued orders on Sunday which direct that the US and Florida flags be flown at half staff to honor the 129 people killed and over 350 wounded in the Paris attacks on Friday. The USA flag normally flies at half-staff after events that have left American casualties or in memory of deceased lawmakers. The worst bloodshed was at a concert hall hosting an American rock band, where scores of people were held hostage and attackers hurled explosives at their captives. These values will endure far beyond any terrorists or their hateful vision. We will do whatever it takes, working with nations and peoples around the world, to bring the perpetrators of these attacks to justice, and to go after terrorists who threaten our people.
