Bear breaks into US bakery, eats dozens of pies
The bear ate 24 cherry pies and 14 apple pies.
According to KDVR and KUSA, the furry fugitive burst through the window of the Colorado Cherry Company in Pinewood Springs overnight Monday.
Ms. Lehnert, the owner of the Colorado Cherry Company in Lyons, called the bear “a picky little guy”, The Guardian said. The bear, who broke into the bakery on Tuesday, for some odd reason stayed on the side of the room with all of the pies.
But the greedy beast turned out to be a fussy eater – as shocked shop staff discovered a lone strawberry rhubarb pie had been left untouched.
She worries the bear might have enjoyed the pies so much that they will now have a repeat customer.
“Maybe he wasn’t feeling like a tart pie, I guess”, added Lehnert’s daughter, Mikaela.
For while the cherry pies went down a treat, the strawberry and rhubarb pie just did not pass muster.
It was reported that he made his way right in and had a feast.
However, there was plenty of evidence: paw prints, bite marks and a trail of sugar. “I’m assuming he probably stood up and took a look and noticed he couldn’t get in through the steel door”, Mikaela said.
The morning following the break-in, Lehnert and her mother found the mess he left behind and two pie boxes in the yard.
