Toddler shoots self, dies

York County Coroner’s Office responded to Piedmont Medical Center Sunday afternoon to investigate the death of 3-year-old Savion Barrow.

He was pronounced dead by hospital staff shortly after his arrival, coroner Sabrina Gast said.

A police report said that a 10-year-old girl and at least four adults were at the home at the time of the shooting. Their relationship to Barrow has not been released.

Medics tried to save Barrow on the way to the hospital but were unsuccessful, officials say. A 2-year-old boy found a gun in his great-aunt’s auto in October and fired the weapon into a seat, wounding his grandmother.

Rock Hill police are investigating the shooting and said the boy somehow managed to get the gun and shot himself.
