Boston crowd rallies in support of Paris
People gathered on the Boston common to pray-holding up french flags and signs.
Samuel Locomte now lives in Boston with his wife Cassie, but their hearts are thousands of miles away in Paris where a friend of Sam’s brother remains missing.
“Vive la France”, Baker added.
Freland was joined by Gov. Charlie Baker, U.S. Sen.
“We’re confident that Boston has no threat, but we’re monitoring closely”, he said.
After the moment of silence, Baker and other MA elected officials walked with Freland to the Lafayette Mall near Park Street MBTA Station. The mall is named after the French soldier who aided the colonists fighting the British in the American Revolutionary War.
Evans said there has been an uptick in suspicious activity calls since the Paris attacks, but stresses that people let police know if there is any suspicious activity given the Paris attacks.
“There’s no better trained trio in the country”, said Walsh about the fire, medical, and police response teams.
Mayor Marty Walsh and Boston police Commissioner William B. Evans spoke about Boston’s safety following the attacks in Paris. I think, right now, everybody is very fearful.
Since ISIS took responsibility on the attacks in Paris and the group made additional threats, several major cities all over the world are taking extra precautions.
Friday’s shootings and suicide bombings targeting the Bataclan concert hall and France’s national stadium, among other sites, killed at least 129 people and injured hundreds more.
