Akmal dropped as Pakistan announce team for England T20s
PCB chief selector Haroon Rashid said that Akmal could be brought back in the squad, if he was proved innocent.
Karachi, Nov.16: Following the suspension of Umar Akmal from T20 squad against England due to controversial media reports against him, the Pakistan batsman has labelled these claims as baseless and hurtful.
“Umar had been penciled in for selection, but he has subsequently been dropped on instructions from the PCB, as he has been issued with a show cause notice for bringing the board and Pakistan cricket into disrepute”, Rasheed was quoted as saying in a PCB release.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended Saeed Ajmal’s central contract over the comments he made against the worldwide Cricket Council regarding illegal bowling actions.
In interviews with Dunya News and Geo Super, Ajmal lashed out at the methods adopted by the ICC to test the bowlers asking why only off-spinners are being targeted.
“I am disappointed what Saeed said recently and we have taken a minimum action against him by suspending [his contract] and held his monthly retainer”.
Today, according to our correspondent, the cricketer submitted to the PCB inquiry committee that he only had food at the party in Hyderabad. “Because when his bowling action was reported the board specially hired Saqlain Mushtaq to work with him and modify his action”, Shaharyar said.
The first Twenty20 match will be played in Dubai on November 26 followed by the second, also in Dubai the next day, with the final match in Sharjah on November 30.
There is also a Twenty20 chance for another little-known potential debutant, Riffat Ullah Mohmand.
“Iftikhar has filled the spot vacated by Younus Khan in ODIs”.
