Transient pleads not guilty to attacking Pauley Perrette
Perrette provided a sketch of her attacker, and the L.A.P.D. have since confirmed that they arrested a 45-year-old man on charges of felony battery. “He is charged with one felony count each of making a criminal threat and false imprisonment by violence”. After not only assaulting her but also threating to take her life multiple times, Merck now faces up to four years in prison if convicted, and his bail was set at $60,000.
LOS ANGELES, CA- A man described by Los Angeles prosecutors as “transient” was charged today with attacking and threatening to kill actress Pauley Perrette on November 12.
Ms. Perrette confessed that she spent all night crying, following a brutal attack by a homeless man, who punched her over and over, as he threatened her life. “I knew I couldn’t overcome him, I prayed my heart out (and) then finally said, ‘William is a attractive name, I have a little nephew named William”‘.
Perrette tweeted about the incident early Friday morning, recapping the terrifying incident start to finish.
She did just that but ended up collapsing on a sidewalk nearby where she phoned a friend to come and help her.
The incident left Perrette clearly shaken. He did nothing to help her. She sent a text to her friend who stayed next door and a cop who is her church friend. Perrette feels that citizens should support the cops and should avoid walking alone. “He was arrested about an hour later”. We need to not walk alone. “I need to heal”, an excerpt from Perrette’s post read. Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney. “Nonetheless, having worked with the homeless in the past, Perrette said: “[My heart] breaks for every single person that’s out there on the streets, especially [those] with undiagnosed or untreated mental illness”.
