Man charged after 6 slain at rural Texas campsite
Six people were killed at a campsite in rural Texas over the weekend, the Associated Press reports.
A former classmate of the man accused of killing six people at a campsite in Anderson County reveals new details about the alleged killer. Officials later arrested William Hudson, 33, who was subsequently charged with one count of murder. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney. One person, identified as a female, survived. Rain today has hampered investigators at the crime scene, which Taylor says is “quite large”.
“A lot of [the victims] are family”, Taylor said.
Local media named the victims inside the trailer as Carl Johnson, 77, and his daughter Hannah Johnson. Johnson’s mother Cynthia Johnson suffered minor injuries and spent Sunday night in a county crisis center after alerting police that morning. The property where the victims were staying was owned by Kamp, the family member told KYTX-TV.
Hudson is reportedly unrelated to the victims.
One of the victims owned the property where the group was staying, KYTX reported. The pair lived in Hillsboro, Texas.
On Monday, police searched Hudson’s home and removed four bodies from a pond in his backyard. Kade Johnson was Hannah’s 6-year-old son. The suspect was previously arrested on an unrelated assault charge.
Greg Taylor, sheriff of Anderson County, said it was the worst mass murder he had ever seen.
The Texas Rangers, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, and Dallas Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
