Clippers sign former MSU standout Branden Dawson
The Clippers signed Dawson, their second-round pick, to a contract Wednesday, the team announced.
Presumably, Dawson got a minimum contract, because that’s all the Clippers have to offer.
The Clippers acquired Dawson on draft night, paying more than $600,000 to New Orleans for the rights to the No. 56 pick.
Branden Dawson has secured his first National Basteball Association contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, following an impressive summer league performance in Orlando.
The LA Times reports the deal is for two years and is guaranteed for the first year.
Dawson, 22, finished second in the standings in rebounding average (10.3), while recording a double-double in three of the four games played.
The 22-year-old left Michigan State as the all-time leader in blocks at 142.
A star at Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana, Dawson was a 2011 McDonald’s All-American after averaging 28.7 points, 18.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists. After signing with the team in April, Hudson appeared in five regular-season games and seven playoff games. He’s not big, but that doesn’t seem to keep him from gobbling up rebounds. If he can actually produce, so much the better.
