Titans Put Justin Hunter, Jason Mccourty On Injured Reserve
Mularkey expressed guarded optimism about Wright making a return for Thursday night’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
WR Justin Hunter (ankle) underwent surgery on his broken right ankle on Monday, a day after suffering the injury in a loss to the Panthers. The Titans will need to add a receiver. He is going to have a second surgery to correct the problem, after one in the preseason.
“We have to figure out who is healthy, ” Mularkey said.
CB Perrish Cox (hamstring) missed Sunday’s game and has not played a full game since sustaining the injury originally against the Dolphins on October 18.
“We’ve got to be smart about how we go about this week, because it was a physical game”.
“He’s a good player”, Mularkey said. “And then Wednesday, it will be a Saturday-type tempo”.
DT Al Woods (ankle) will miss at least a couple of weeks with a high ankle sprain sustained in Sunday’s loss to Carolina. Marcus Mariota completed 16 of 24 passes for 185 yards. On the ground, Dexter McCluster had 25 yards and one touchdown in three attempts. They will know more when the team has their walk through later today.
Hunter finishes this season with 22 receptions, six fewer than he had past year when he played 12 games before a ruptured spleen sent him to injured reserve. The two dig at one another about who had the better show! He said the Titans definitely would add a wide receiver to replace Hunter but that their depth at cornerback might allow them to look at other positions to fill McCourty’s spot. The Titans hung in for about two-and-a-half quarters, but the Panthers slowly pulled away.
